ESSEX, Vt. (WCAX) – Regal Gymnastics in Essex offers programs for children through to college athletes. On Saturday, some of their best competed against other gymnasts from around the country … virtually.
Regal participated in the Pink Invitational, a competition usually held in Philly that brings together teams from across the country to raise funds for HER, a charity that helps women affected by breast or ovarian cancer. Obviously the event couldn’t be held in person this year, but Regal gymnasts have stepped up and raised more than $ 50,000! That’s more than any other gym in the country. The children say it is strange to have a virtual meeting, but they were thrilled to be able to help.
“Yeah, I think it’s pretty awesome,” said Chloe Daniels from Essex. “I think $ 57,000 is insane. I don’t know where all of this comes from, but it’s so great that 100 of us can come together and raise so much money for this foundation. “
“It was really amazing,” added Ellie Quintin, also from Essex. “Our first goal was $ 10,000 and we really didn’t think we could make it here. It’s really incredible to sit at $ 57,000. It really just shows what we can do when we all work together. “
